C. Handy Law is a boutique law firm founded and led by attorney Casey C. Handy. Actively listening to clients’ needs and desires are the driving forces of her practice, which concentrates on start-up and emerging businesses and music industry professionals. Casey has always been drawn to innovative and entrepreneurial spirits. Before law school, Casey worked in various legal arenas including the legal department of General Electric (“GE”) in Evondale, Ohio. While at GE, Casey gained experience and insight into the various components of business law used to turn novel ideas into profitable ventures. Capitalizing on her experience with GE, she went on to study business on the international scale in undergraduate school and in Bejing, China alongside her major studies. Never losing sight of her passion for music, Casey also pursued a degree in music business and has worked with various recording artists and entrepreneurs within the music industry.
Casey has always taken a proactive approach to problem solving, allowing her to maintain a largely transactional practice, focused on educating her clients. As a trained mediator, Ms. Handy also provides parties facing litigation with an opportunity to resolve their disputes in a less adversarial environment. Over the years, Ms. Handy has learned that no matter the industry, start-up and emerging businesses face a similar set of challenges. Challenges that require a committed and trustworthy attorney who is not afraid to think outside the box. Ms. Handy is well versed in the areas of intellectual property, contracts, business formations, labor and employment law, and other areas that relate to start-ups and business development. In addition to practicing law, Casey is a piano instructor and blogs regularly about business law issues on handybusinesstips.com.
